Why Sagrada.

Sagrada is a dice drafting puzzle where each player fills a small grid to build a stained glass window. Each round a pool of colored dice is rolled and players take turns picking one and placing it on their board. The rules are the whole game: a die cannot sit orthogonally next to another die of the same color or the same number, and each board has printed restrictions on certain squares that demand a specific color or value. Shared public objectives reward patterns like rows of different colors or sets of particular numbers, and a private objective rewards one color.

The result is a game that looks gentle and plays like a tightening knot. Early placements are free and easy; by the last two rounds you may have only one legal square left and the die you need is not in the pool. Tool cards, which let you bend the rules for a price, are the release valve, and knowing when to spend on them is most of the strategy. Because everyone drafts from the same pool, there is a light competitive edge as the die you wanted disappears, but nobody can attack you directly, which makes it a favorite with players who dislike conflict.

It scales cleanly from a good solo mode up to four, and it is one of the better date-night games because turns are quick and the finished windows are genuinely pretty. Compared with Azul, its closest relative, Sagrada is more forgiving socially and less forgiving mechanically: nobody can leave you stuck, but you can absolutely stick yourself.
